What is EPR?

Equine Positional Release (EPR) was developed by Zarna Carter and is adapted from Ortho-Bionomy. EPR incorporates principles of non-force theory to achieve structural and functional balance, lasting health and optimal performance. Positioning a joint in a place of ease and adding light compression stimulates the joint's natural proprioceptive nerve cell reflexes to effect change in the body.

EPR changed the way Jenny works with horses

In my first class with Zarna, I learned how to release the lumbar area of a horse. I remember standing with my hands on my hips and staring in disbelief as I watched Zarna's demonstration. When Zarna asked if there was something wrong, I said it couldn't be that easy, Zarna laughed and said "It can!"

Once horses understand this work, they direct the treatment and their systems become much more healthy. Releasing the muscles of the lumbar area, the psoas, improving range of motion in the shoulders, the horse's structure changes during the session and continues to change in the following days.

My education continues through the Rocky Mountain Ortho-Bionomy Center and I have been able to include Visceral, Lymphatic and Circulatory work as well as work with the reproductive and endocrine systems into my work with horses

Equine Positional Release Improves Performance

EPR improves:

Muscle tone

Joint alignment

Circulation

Nerve transmission

Recovery from injury and illness

Soft tissue repair

Reduces pain and inflammation

Balance and co-ordination

I look forward to hearing from you.
